The 15 yard container in Dallas
The 15 yard is the step up from the 10 when the job is one big room rather than one small one. Kitchen remodels are the classic fit — cabinets, countertops, flooring, the drywall behind it all — and so is a deck tear-down or a whole-house carpet and tile change-out.
It is still short enough for most residential driveways in Garland, Irving, DeSoto and Cedar Hill, and low-sided enough that you can load it over the wall without a ramp. If you are between a 10 and a 20 and the material is light and bulky, this is usually where you land.
Kitchens, floors, fences and single-room remodels
A kitchen generates more than people expect: by the time the cabinets, the old appliances' packaging, the backsplash and the subfloor are out, a 10 yard is tight and a 15 is right. Flooring jobs are the same — tile from a three-bedroom house is heavy and awkward, and the 15 gives you the length to lay it flat.
Fences are the other North Texas regular. A wind-blown cedar fence comes down in long sections; cut the boards under 12 feet and they stack cleanly along the 14 ft bed.
Weight on a 15 yard
The included allowance is two tons. Tile, plaster and old slab pieces add up quickly, so for a heavy flooring job we will tell you up front whether it fits the allowance or needs a split load. Light demolition — cabinets, drywall, carpet — never gets near the line.
Suitability
Is the 15 yard the right size for you?
Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.
Choose the 15 yard for
- Kitchen remodel including cabinets and counters
- Whole-house carpet or tile tear-out
- Deck, fence or pergola removal
- Two-room cleanout with furniture
- Flooring plus a bathroom in one go
Pick a different size for
- Whole-house renovation — go to the 20 or 30
- Full roof tear-off (a 20 is the usual fit)
- Commercial build-outs
- Anything hazardous or prohibited
Placing a 15 yard container on a DFW property
It needs about 28 feet of clear, level driveway, and overhead clearance for the lift. On your own driveway or lot in Dallas we found no City rule requiring a permit; in a street or alley the City treats it as occupying the right-of-way and Public Works Right-of-Way Management (214-948-4290) issues the permits. Other cities have their own rules — several bar containers from the right-of-way outright, and many reserve roll-offs to their contracted hauler. Boards go under the rails as standard. The city-by-city guide covers every city.

15 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked
Is a 15 yard enough for a kitchen remodel?
For most Dallas kitchens, yes. If you are also gutting an adjoining room or replacing tile throughout the house, step up to the 20.
Will it fit in my driveway?
It needs about 14 feet of container length and a straight approach. Most two-car driveways in DFW have room; townhouse and alley-loaded garages are worth a quick photo before we book.
Can I keep it longer than a week?
Yes. The standard rental is 7 days and extensions are a small daily rate — just tell us before the scheduled pickup.
What is the weight limit?
Two tons is included. Dense material like tile or plaster can push past that, so tell us what is going in and we will plan the load.
